31 may 2011- Day 301

Tuesday

Married people are weird. I knocked on the Thorsons room, where I hear competitive laughs and yells coming, and this is the scene I see.



You can see how I could be confused. Apparently after watching an episode of 'Friends' where they played a game to see who could name all 50 states Jesse and Kathleen decided to play this themselves.

Jesse ended up winning, because Kathleen had written down Idaho twice.

May 30th

30 May 2011- Day 300!!!!!

Monday

The Potter's (sans Heather) and the McJagson's (sans Jesse) invaded Rochester. It was an adventure of adventures!

#1: The day started early with a little puppet show from Lily Ann Rebecca (the bear) and her lovely helper Esther May Potter.



#2: Then a hiking we did go, up all the steps of the "death castle" also known as the Rochester Castle. Now Naomi was a bit stressed over Esther being up there, but Kathleen and Annie seemed happy with the pigeons.



#3: Kathleen has a wonderful flirtatious face! The best part of this moment sadly isn't in the picture. The family behind us was jumping up and down in one of the turrets screaming "We're in the dungeon." That family (or group) had three children and 2 adults all jumping and chanting. I laughed so hard. (But I would never EVER do anything so silly.



#4: This was taken at the second castle we went to; I think it was called Upnor??? Anywhoo, upstairs next to the clock innards (the room where you could see how the clock worked) had this lovely sign reminder to Mind Your Head, only it was upside down, so I think it only helps after you have hit your head... and even then I doubt it.



The day was amazing, and I am sure we will blog about it soon here.

May 29th

29 May 2011- Day 299

Sunday

The first two pictures today are on our ride home from Conference. We rode home with the Potters which is always an adventure.

#1: I gave Esther Jesse's hat and told her to make a cheeky Jesse face, and I think she did a good job.



#2: In the middle of colouring with Esther I look up and see this. Jesse brushing Craig's hair. What really made me laugh out loud was the fact that Jesse was holding a teddy bear in his arms. (The bears name is Lily Ann Rebecca.) Sometimes life is just silly.



The second group of picture happened when Annie was playing with Kathleen's hair.

#3: It is awesome, and the face she makes is awesome too.



#4: I think her hair reminds me a bit of Shredder from 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' or as they called them in the UK 'Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles.'



Today was a good day for pictures.

Today I spent a lot of time posting my pictures from days past on facebook. I've come to realize that I am obsessed with sunsets and sunrises. I have taken SO many pictures of those.



And before I had realized that I had taken a picture of the sunset tonight. So that is the picture for today.

I am amazed at how long it stays light. I took this picture after 9 pm, and still it isn't completely dark.



It is awesome! And the sun starts coming up at like 3 am... it is crazy!

I decided to find another fun book to read, and so I started the second 'Hunger Games' book... Catching Fire.



It is awesome! I read half of it in one day. Now I just need to read the other half.

I got to spend the evening with the Potter ladies: Naomi, the unknown name fetus, Heather and Esther. We watched Tangled, had a yummy dinner, and played until bed time. It was a great night.

Samiee's POTD and new LOVE

Ok last fall I discovered a show on History called "Swamp People" it is a documentary style show about gator hunters in Louisiana. I was instantly hooked by this show! As a die hard animal lover I am both scared and interested in gators. Don't get me wrong... I know that these creatures have survived extinction, ice age and are modern day dinosaurs so they are definitely smarter than I am... so I respect them.

For as long as I can remember I have had a deep love for all things Cajun and southern.. my dream is to go to New Orleans walk down historic First Street, eat gumbo and mint juleps. I think in a past life I was a Southern Belle....

Ok so for work I was sent to Southern Florida where I was able to visit the EVERGLADES! I saw honest to goodness alligators in the wild and they where as amazing as I expected. Our tour guide was amazing! Very informative and he loves the Everglades. 20 or so years ago our guide rescued a gator he named Bob after a bad man tried to beat Bob within an inch of his life. Our guide spent 2 years rehabilitating Bob until he was fit enough to go back to the wild. Now, when Bob hears the guides voice he comes to him like a dog to their owner.... Not gonna lie I wanted to HUG Bob. However, Simone said No.... Sigh.... someday. So I settled for holding this wittle gator named Wally... and giving him a SMOOOCH ;)

Tuesday

Today had two awesome moments!

#1 I finished the Book of Mormon. I am happy I set a goal, and achieved it.



#2 I found episodes of "Dr Quinn Medicine Woman" on youtube, and they have made me happy!

Monday

Kathleen asked if she could play with my hair, and I love people playing with my hair, so I quickly agreed.



She made it all curly and pretty.

She's awesome

And I still stand by my previous statement. She can play with my hair anytime.

According to some today was supposed to be the end of the world; luckily we are all still here.

Before we knew that today was the last supposedly day on earth we planned a day with the Griggs. It was a fantastic day, and this is my favorite picture taken today.

Today was an awesome day for two reasons. (Well I am sure it is more than two reasons, but these are the two I have pictures of.)

#1 Annie made a beautiful and delicious chocolate cake.



#2 Bonfire night at Whitstable beach. (And yes I am trying to roast marshmallows on what looks to be a giant tourist pencil. In fact it is just a sharpened piece of wood that looks like it would be a great tool for killing vampires.)



Had a wonderful day, and will probably blog about it in more detail soon.

So we received some sad news. The little gimpy boy puppy already has an owner. We will be so sad to see him go, when the time comes... he is my favorite, and I really really will miss him.

Today was a day of TV again. I know I need to get back to researching, but right now my brain is fuzzy, and is only good for viewing TV or movies. So today was all about Criminal Minds.

I had a horrible migraine the night before and still felt a bit wonky, so most of my day was spent resting. This my view for most of the time I was awake.

I decided on the first picture of the day for the blog. For one thing, its hilarious, for another, it seems to be a kindle ad gone wrong, for another, it pretty much captures our moods for the day. I'm sure someone will blog about the trip into the city, so I won't share any crazy stories yet!

Friday the 13th, and all our assignments were in, and our brains were fried. We decided to celebrate by having lunch at Cafe des Amies du Mexique. YUM!

I got to feed the puppies their lunch today. They really are the cutest thing EVER! I want one so bad!




I love that they are starting to act like dogs now, they run around and bark. It's so cute!

Sorry it has taken me so long to upload these few days, it seems as though blogger hates me. My blogs are acting all funky.

Oh well, today was an easy going day of watching more TV. I blogged about it here



Lazy days are amazing!

I have rotating obsessions.... right now I am RE-obsessed with.....

MAKEUP! Specifically beauty blogs. GAH!! I am so ashamed..... what must my mother think?? Oh... ya I know what she thinks... "Oh brother here we go again." and " You bought MORE makeup? you have enough makeup to last a lifetime!"

Now... I am not the kind of gal that can't leave the house without full makeup... quite opposite actually... I frequently leave my house sans makeup, bra, shoes etc...

I blame this re-obsession on my new J.O.B. I am currently working with NAKED cosmetics. I specifically work with their skin cream which is totally amazing... but the makeup is also very bragworthy. It is a professional company that has a great reputation among makeup artists and the like. I travel for the company as a sales rep going to beauty shows etc. around the country. I know poor pity me right?? Ya they should have a telethon for my cause :).

At a beauty show in NY I met a famous beauty blogger named... Julieg713. She is HUGE on youtube... I have never been much of a youtube blogger follower in the past but after meeting here and seeing her following I have watched a few of her tutorials.... and I am  officially addicted. I am only interested in the makeup ones and I must say I love them!!

Today was a day of cleaning and laundry, and I felt really productive. But one of the best parts of the day was when Kathleen made a carrot cake!

Today was the day to get work done, and I was pretty productive. I wrote 1200 words. But when my brain was fried, we all watched a few episodes of 24, but because it was so sunny out we had to close our curtains to see anything. And even then it wasn't too effective. We have a problem in our house. We are addicted to the TV show "24". It is so bad that Annie went to HMV to buy it, with the excuse that it was right by Tesco and she needed to buy avocados.

I think we went through a whole disc, in one evening!

On the same day that Samiee talked about a book she was reading, I am also blogging about books I am reading. Now I have read the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich before, but I just can't help but read them again.



I found these at a charity shop on High Street in Canterbury, and I have to say that are a much needed break from all the heavy reading I have been doing about theatre theory, and philosophy of art. Sometimes you just need a bit of a breather, and these are perfect for that.

Swan Theives..... Eh

I just finished reading The Swan Thieves by Elizabeth Kostova. I have to say that while it was interesting I am still trying to figure out the point.The how and why these things are connected and why we needed the ENTIRE back story of someone and briefly tease with something that would connect 2 or more characters but then later kinda just fizzled and what seemed like it would be really important....well..... wasn't.  I am not an artist or an art enthusiast and I felt compelled to see the paintings mentioned in the story. Overall, I am not a fan of this book. It seemed to be pointless.

Monday

Today we had dinner at the Littlewoods. We had a lot of laughs, and some fire. All in all it was a great night. The best picture I took before my camera died was of James sneaking up on me.



He's such a cute little man.

May 1st

1 May 2011- Day 271

Sunday

We were lucky enough to have the Griggs, and Sue and Reg over for dinner; and we were able to show the girls all the animals that we are near. They also got to play on the trampoline. All in all I think they enjoyed themselves.



First they got to meet Bugsy, the horse on the property, and they fed him an apple and some grass. Reg and Sue arrived just as we were heading out to see the horse, and they decided they wanted to come with us and see Bugsy.



Then Kathleen led the girls to see the baby cows that now live in a field by the house.



And the girls also got to see the boy sheep that are near the house. Apparently they saw one wee for a 'long time."
